Kenya 2019
In 2019 The Nomad Jeweler was born and organized a trip to Kenya. We started off with attending the conference in Nairobi, then travelled south to Voi. We visited two mine sites and met with some of the women miners to learn more about the experience. After Voi we flew North to to stay at the Elephant Watch Camp in . There we learned about the Masai people and the importance of human, nature and animal connection, and why we need to protect and persevere the interactions we share with each other.
In 2020 I co-founded Virtu Gem with Susan Wheeler and Monica Gichuhi to alleviate the effects of COVID and facilitate trade to international markets. We started in Zambia. After receiving two World Bank grants we were able to expand into Malawi and Kenya. Together we have traveled to various parts of Kenya, Zambia and Malawi to meet our team and help facilitate virtuous trade. Learn more here:
